The Feather River Air Quality Management District is a local agency that regulates stationary sources of air pollution such as manufacturing facilities, coating operations, and gasoline stations. State law requires that the Air District must notify the public when it receives a permit application for a new or modified source of toxic air contaminants located within 1,000 feet of a school site. To comply with this requirement, the Air District distributes a Public Notice to the parents or guardians of students enrolled at schools located within one-quarter mile of the proposed source, and all residents and businesses located within 1,000 feet of the proposed source.
A description of the proposed project:
Yuba County Unified School District has applied for an Authority to Construct/Permit to install a new diesel-fueled emergency backup generator located at 5327 Fruitland Road, Loma Rica. The emergency generator set consists of an alternator and a spark-ignited combustion engine. Spark ignited combustion engines emit air contaminants including oxides of nitrogen, carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds, oxides of sulfur, and particulate matter. The emergency generator will be used to generate power during emergency conditions. The emergency engine will be periodically tested to ensure that it will generate electricity when needed.
The District is currently evaluating the application and hereby invites written public comment in accordance with California Health and Safety Code 42301.6. Written comments must be received on or before April 2, 2022. Please address written comments to:
